Patton

C&O Milepost 163.5

Station Number: 163
Code Number: 0248

The first mention that I can find of Patton is the 1906 Industrial Guide. The next earliest listing was as a flag stop on the December, 1916 employee timetable and it appeared as a flag stop on timetables into the 1930’s. According to the list of stations compiled by McChord (1979), Patton at one time had a passenger shed. The station also once had a spur track which was retired in April of 1936. The C&O received authority to discontinue the non-agency station at Patton on June 5, 1944. Patton was listed as abandoned in the C&O Index of Stations and Tunnels (1943, updated to 1969). The C&O’s Chesapeake Region Bridge Book shows that there were two bridges over Patton Creek, one at milepost 163.2 and one at milepost 163.8.
